CerebralFix recently collaborated with Black Salt Games to bring their critically acclaimed title, DREDGE, from PC to iOS and Android. Porting a game from PC to mobile presents numerous technical and design challenges, particularly when maintaining the fidelity of complex gameplay mechanics, atmospheric storytelling, and visual quality. Our skilled team navigated these complexities by optimizing resource-intensive graphics, reengineering control schemes for touchscreen responsiveness, and meticulously adapting user interfaces for smaller screens without compromising gameplay depth or narrative immersion.
Key challenges included preserving detailed environmental effects, dynamic lighting systems, and intricate physics interactions, all of which are crucial to the game's eerie and immersive atmosphere. To address these, we employed advanced asset compression techniques, graphical processing optimization strategies, and performance profiling across a broad spectrum of devices. Additionally, our team undertook extensive UX/UI iterations to ensure intuitive touch controls and seamless navigation tailored specifically for mobile gamers.
